Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Intake?
An intake is your initial (first) visit to our clinic. Once your completed information sheet is turned into the receptionist, your paperwork is processed/verified by out staff and assigned to a clinical member of our intake staff for assessment

The clinical assessment is to determine with you your need for ongoing mental health treatment.

This clinical assessment is NOT for the purpose of determining eligibility benefits (i.e., disability, food stamps, AFDC, housing, etc.)

How long will I have to wait before I am seen for my Intake?
Upon completion of the initial information sheet, be prepared to wait a MINIMUM of two hours to be seen for intake. Intakes are processed on a first come, first serve basis. Int the event that we must verify any information (i.e. TennCare eligibility), you may be taken out of this rotation and assisted with determining TennCare eligibility and/or a sliding fee scale of payment.

In some instances, assistance with determining payment of services may result in your needing to return for the clinical assessment on another day.

May I leave during the waiting period?
It is not recommended. If you are not present when your name is called, you will be removed from the intake rotation and will need to return on another day for intake.

How long does an intake last?
The clinical assessment can last up to two hours and begins once you meet with the intake worker.

Do I get to see the doctor today?
No, there are no available doctor's appointments on the day of your intake.

Do I get medication today?
No. You will be assessed for medication at your initial psychiatric evaluation and prescriptions will be provided if recommended.

When will I be able to see a doctor?
In the process of your intake, it will be determined if you need to see a doctor. If we determine that you need a doctor's appointment, you will be given an appointment for an initial psychiatric evaluation. These appointments are scheduled as quickly as possible, however, they can be up to one month from the date of your intake.
